Skogheim is staffed by a team of highly experienced service professionals, many with over 15 years working experience at Skogheim.


Our Management Team

Skogheim is managed by Timothy Sander and Rian du Plessis, a team of dynamic gentlemen with a heart for ministry and a passion for serving God’s people. Each manager has there own unique gifts, skills and experience in the Christian camping and guest service industry. They live with their families at Skogheim and there is always at least one of them available to serve our guests at all times. This unique leadership team structure and the manager’s ability to fill each others roles creates the outstanding service environment Skogheim is so well known for.


TRUSTEES

Peter Jenkins - Chairman

After retiring as Principal of Port Shepstone High School and having been employed by the KZN Department of Education for 35 years, Peter was nominated as Chairman of Skogheim Christian Trust.  He was previously Deputy Chief Education Specialist for HR and Labour Relations at the Ugu District Office and Subject Adviser for Zulu Third Language based in Pietermaritzburg,  He started his teaching career at Kloof High School. Peter grew up in Durban as a member of the Durban North Presbyterian Church and later was a member of Scottsville Presbyterian Church, which he attended whilst he was at University in Pietermaritzburg.  It was there that he met his wife, Debbie, to whom he has been married for 32 years. They are now members of RiverLife Church in Port Shepstone and live at Umzumbe. They have two sons who both matriculated at Port Shepstone High School and are now qualified in the fields of Engineering and Accounting.

Michael Hansen

Our previous, long serving Chairman. Michael Hansen is retired from an automotive engineering business. He loves motor sport in any form and was the SA ‘carting’ champion in 1968. He is married to Deanne and has 4 sons and 1 daughter scattered around the world. His greatest joy since retiring is reconditioning vintage vehicles and spending time with his 6 grandchildren. He joined Skogheim in 1977 while it was still owned by AEF as a local representative, and has continued to serve on the board to today. He has seen God’s hand at work to develop Skogheim from a 100 bed campsite to the 368 bed conference centre that is it today.

Nico van Zyl - Treasurer

Nico van Zyl holds a BA and LLB from the Rand Afrikaans University (now the University of Johannesburg), was admitted as an attorney in 1975 and is practising in Port Shepstone at Van Zyl Retief Incorporated. He has lived in Port Shepstone since 1984 and was a member of the governing body of Suid Natal High School and served as a director of Mbango Valley Association. He is a member of the advisory council of South Coast Hospice. He is married to Sonetta and they have four children and seven grand children.


Ruth Greeff

Dr Ruth Greeff considers serving on the board of Skogheim a huge honour in memory of her late uncle Nils Brauteseth. Founder of Skogheim. She believes there is a specially calling on this land dedicated to God’s work. As a child she grew up around Skogheim & attended many camps on the grounds. The impact, outreach & nurturing that come from being in the Skogheim environment are values that she believes are life changing & enhancing of one’s spiritual grounding. Ruth’s parents also devoted their lives to mission work & leave her a legacy of service in God’s work. This rich heritage brings her to a place where her education and commitment to the Lord have opened doors in many fields. She holds a PhD in Nutrition & Masters of Public Health in Community Nutrition and Development. Her passion is working with systems that empower people to live their best lives, these include interests in the wellness, business & spiritual fields. She is devoted to her husband & best friend, Dr Mike Greeff, & to her daughter & son-in- law & grand-daughter.


Siegfried Ngubane

Siegfried Ngubane is the Director of SIM SA, and is responsible for the leadership and managing the operations of SIM SA. Responsibilities include smooth running of the office in Cape Town, receive missionaries to South Africa and the process of placing missionaries beyond South African borders. Siegfried served as lecturer at George Whitefield College in Cape Town and prior to that an ordained minister with REACH SA. He continues to teach part time at George Whitefield College and his passion is more on Discipleship, Leadership Development and Mentoring. Siegfried holds a Ph.D. In Missiology from the University of the Free State, an M.A. in Missions from South African Theological Seminary and an MPhil from the University of Stellenbosch in Industrial Psychology (HIV/AIDS in work place).
